About the Role

We are seeking a Break Relief Operator to join our team at our Alsip, IL bakery. As a Break Relief Operator, you will be accountable for learning and performing multiple production roles to ensure continuous workflow during employee breaks and lunches. Your flexibility and ability to adapt quickly across tasks is essential to maintaining productivity, food safety, and quality standards on the production floor.

 

Shift & Schedule

  • Shift: 1st
  • Hours: 5:45AM – 4:15PM
  • Weekend availability: Required

 

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $21 – $22

 

Core Accountabilities (What You’ll Be Doing)

  • Provide break‑relief coverage across multiple positions including case erector/packer, dough mover, mixer, operator, palletizer, and other roles as assigned
  • Learn and demonstrate full competency in all assigned production tasks to maintain workflow continuity
  • Support food‑safety, quality, and regulatory compliance by following GMPs, Allergen, Food Defense, and HACCP policies
  • Partner with Supervisors and Maintenance to ensure equipment is functioning properly
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and uphold hygiene and safety requirements
  • Communicate equipment, safety, or product concerns promptly to appropriate personnel
  • Contribute to a collaborative and efficient team environment

 

Minimum Qualifications (What You Bring to the Table)

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience in manufacturing or food production
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to varied tasks
  • Ability to read, write, and complete accurate and legible documentation
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform repetitive physical tasks

 

Preferred Qualifications (Extra Ingredients for Success)

  • Prior experience in the food industry
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment or workflow issues
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships
  • Flexibility to support multiple roles across the department
  • Strong understanding of GMP and food‑safety requirements
