About the Role
We are seeking a Food Safety & Quality Assurance Supervisor (12- month contract) to join our team at our Ancaster, ON bakery.As a Food Safety & Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will be accountable for ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across bakery operations. This role is vital to supporting production excellence, leading the QA Technician team, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that protect our products, customers, and brand reputation.
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: 1st Shift
- Hours: 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday
- Weekend Availability: Optional based on business needs
Compensation
Salary Range: $60,000 - $85,000
Core Accountabilities (What You'll Be Doing)
- Lead food safety and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise the QA Technician team to drive effective resource utilization, performance, and operational support.
- Investigate quality incidents, product non-conformances, and customer concerns while implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits and maintain audit readiness across the facility.
- Partner with production, maintenance, logistics, and engineering teams to drive food safety and quality improvements.
- Develop team capability through training, coaching, and performance management initiatives.
- Manage QA department resources, testing supplies, and operational costs to support efficient business performance.
Minimum Qualifications (What You Bring to the Table)
- Minimum 3 years of experience supervising or managing Quality Assurance functions.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in food manufacturing preferrably.
- Demonstrated experience with CAPA, Root Cause Analysis (6M), and 5 Why problem-solving methodologies.
- Working knowledge of HACCP, PCQI, GMPs, and food safety management systems.
- Experience supporting or leading BRC audits.
- Strong understanding of food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively across departments.
Preferred Qualifications (Extra Ingredients for Success)
- Degree in Food Science or a related discipline.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.
- Certified Quality Manager (CQM) certification.
- Experience with GFSI-recognized food safety systems such as BRC, SQF, or FSSC 22000.
- Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives within food manufacturing environments.
