The FSQA Technician is a contributing member of the team-oriented FSQA process, including responsibility for protecting the food by conducting food safety and quality sampling, testing and completing required documentation to meet Aspire Bakeries Integrated Management System Program (AIMS) requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Abide by all Plant Safety, Health & Environmental policies and actively participate in safety activities
- Perform all chemical, physical, and microbiological tests for ingredient mixes and finished products
- Analyzing bulk and finished products using a variety of techniques including, pH, Viscosity, Color, Odor, and Appearance
- Record analytical results on required reports and in electronic databases and spreadsheets
- Record key line performance and process performance indicators into appropriate tracking mechanisms
- Participate in operational project teams for quality improvement and/or cost reduction
- Monitor product quality and assist in continuous improvement
- Audit processes and help to identify opportunities for improvements
- Able to lead and drive completion of Root Cause Analysis
- Understands all safe practices and systems relevant to the equipment and the safety responsibilities placed upon individuals
- Utilizes appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products, and equipment relevant to the task
- Contributes to reducing costs due to product waste and minimizing the impact on health, safety, and the environment through the correct handling of product
- Follow quality standards to include GMPs which include personal health and hygiene, HACCP, allergen control, foreign material control, and product integrity
- Adhere to food safety practices and ensure they are being followed
- Follow all GMPs including maintaining personal hygiene, hand washing/sanitizing hands, clean up spills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Food Science, Microbiology or Human Ecology required
- 1-2 years work experience in the food industry, bakery experience preferred
- Knowledgeable of and able to train procedures, programs and systems, including but not limited to:
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, & Word)
