This position is responsible for ensuring that the bakery runs effectively and efficiently. Along with ensuring that the bakery runs effectively and efficiently, the Maintenance Leadhand must also ensure that their team applies uniform standards and complies with all regulatory and plant GMP requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the work of shift Mechanics with a view to maintaining and maximizing equipment uptime and minimizing downtime
  • Establish strong relationships with all work groups and works with a collaborative style
  • Responsible for maintenance and repairs to all plant mechanical systems and equipment
  • Lead the team through process of trouble shooting breakdowns ,downtime reports and Root Cause Fault Analyses
  • Maintain s Maintenance /Sanitation Activity Tags Log book and provide updates
  • Report all deficiencies to supervisor (i.e. employee issues, quality concerns, staff shortage, overtime hours, process concerns)
  • Work together with all other departments to ensure a productive team environment and the continuous improvement of the plant processes
  • Report any concerns and/or problems to supervisor through daily written and verbal reporting
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality and quality
  • Adhere to all applicable job procedures as outlined in SOP manual
  • Adhere to GMP’s and Health and safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
  • Adhere to food safety practices and ensure they are being followed

 

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid license, or more than 10 years of experience in the trade is required
  • Certificate of Qualifications, Ontario Industrial Mechanic Millwright is preferred
  • Able to read blueprints and follow equipment schematics
  • Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • A team builder who is self-managed and able to set priorities among conflicting priorities
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills able to document findings and prepare Root Cause Analyses
