To manage production line employees and ensure the smooth operation of the production line within food safety and health and safety guidelines. Effectively managing production employees and ensure smooth operation of the production line.

 

Responsibilities

  • Leadership of the production floor
  • Coaching and training of staff
  • Monitoring of plant labour and material efficiencies and daily reporting
  • Reduce waste, downtime and improve productivity
  • Develop a safe workplace by using systems, policies and safety improvements
  • Active  membership in OH&S committee
  • Recruitment and onboarding of new production personnel
  • Ensuring compliance to QA, GMP and food safety disciplines
  • Deep involvement and leadership in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Involvement in R&D projects and formula improvement initiatives
  • Active member of sustainability improvement and energy reduction teams
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality and quality
  • Adhere to all applicable job procedures as outlined in SOP manual
  • Adhere to GMPs and Health and Safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
    • Keep work area clean and clear of hazards
    • Report any unsafe conditions, incidents or injuries to supervisor immediately
    • Use all prescribed personal protective equipment
  • Adhere to food safety practices and ensure they are being followed
    • Monitor and enforce GMP compliance by all operators
    • Ensure all work areas are clean and organized and free of spills, water, wood, and debris
    • Complete incident reports for all FM/GMP incidents
    • Follow up with EHSS Manager any reports of unusual people or behaviours
  • Perform other duties as required

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 Education with good oral and written English skills
  • 3-5 years experience supervising workers
  • Food industry background with knowledge of current health & safety legislations would be an asset
  • Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to direct people
  • Strong Leadership, interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) with a proven ability to communicate in an ESL work environment
  • Ability to interact with all levels of business.
  • Excellent planning, analytical & organizational skills

 

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Good oral and written English skills

Preferred

  • 3-5 years supervisor experience
