Position Purpose

This position is responsible for assisting the Retail Store Supervisor in fulfilling the duties required to operate an efficient and profitable retail outlet.

 

Responsibilities

  • Operate the cash register and process the sale of merchandise
  • Greet and interact with customers and monitor customers to assist the store in loss prevention
  • Maintain the appearance of the store, some cleaning as required
  • Stock shelves, checking for freshness - remove product if necessary
  • Answer phone, takes orders for special request or large order requests
  • Processes donation requests
  • Ensure that the store is never left unattended, one person present at all times
  • Protect employees and customers by providing a safe and clean environment
  • Respond to customer complaints and comments
  • Package product as required i.e. bagels, predeposit muffins, cookies
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality and quality
  • Adhere to all applicable job procedures as outlined in SOP manual
  • Adhere to GMPs and Health and Safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
    • Keep work area clean and clear of hazards
    • Report any unsafe conditions, incidents or injuries to supervisor immediately
    • Use all prescribed personal protective equipment
  • Adhere to food safety practices and ensure they are being followed
    • Visually inspect the board loader area to ensure food safety
    • All tools to be cleaned and maintained in good repair. Report any broken, damaged, or missing tools to your supervisor. Do not discard any damaged or broken tools.
    • Follow all GMPs including maintaining personal hygiene, handwashing/sanitizing hands, clean up spills (i.e.: ingredients, water, debris and wood)
    • Report any foreign material findings to your supervisor
    • As part of food security, report any unusual people or behaviours to your supervisor
  • Perform all other duties assigned

  • The majority of work in the retail store outlet requires employees to stand on their feet

for the entire  8-12 hour shift

  • Physical demands may also include reaching, bending, walking, lifting (up to a maximum

of  50lbs) and performing repetitive actions

  • The temperature of the environment within the retail store outlet ranges from

68-74 degrees Fahrenheit

  • The production areas are often loud, exceeding 85 decibels, due to the machinery that is

running; earplugs are required to be worn while in the bakery at all times

  • Depending on position, some employees may be exposed to dust; dust masks and

respirators are available if required
