About the Role

We are seeking an FSQA Technician (8‑Month Temporary Assignment) to join our team at our Ancaster bakery. As an FSQA Technician, you will play a critical role in protecting food safety and quality by conducting chemical, physical, and microbiological testing, recording results, and ensuring compliance with the Aspire Bakeries Integrated Management System (AIMS).

  • Shift: Rotating Continental
  • Assignment Duration: 8 Months
  • Weekend Availability: Required

 

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $30.14

 

Core Accountabilities (What You’ll Be Doing)

  • Abide by all Plant Safety, Health, and Environmental policies; actively participate in safety initiatives.
  • Conduct chemical, physical, and microbiological tests on ingredient mixes and finished products.
  • Analyze products using techniques such as pH, viscosity, color, odor, and appearance evaluations.
  • Record analytical results in required reports, databases, and spreadsheets.
  • Capture key line and process performance indicators and enter them into tracking systems.
  • Participate in quality improvement and cost‑reduction projects.
  • Monitor product quality and assist in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Audit processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead or support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Follow all safety procedures related to equipment, materials, and environment.
  • Follow GMPs, including personal hygiene, HACCP, allergen control, foreign material controls, and product integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety practices and report concerns promptly.

 

Minimum Qualifications (What You Bring to the Table)

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology, human ecology, or related field required.
  • 1–2 years of experience in the food industry (bakery experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of food safety, quality systems, and analytical testing methods.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to train others on procedures, programs, and systems.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
