About the Role
We are seeking a Licensed Millwright to join our team at our Brantford bakery. As a Tech 2, Maintenance (Millwright), you will be accountable for hands-on maintenance in a state-of-the-art continuous process food manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for responding to breakdowns, carrying out preventative maintenance, ensuring all equipment operates safely, and other assigned work.
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: Rotating continental shift
- Hours: 5:45am – 6:00pm / 5:45pm – 6:00am
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $47.60 plus applicable shift premiums for nights and weekends
Core Accountabilities (What You’ll be Doing)
- Proactively troubleshoot and correct problems with control systems, scaling systems or any electric or electronic systems on the production equipment
- Conduct routine scheduled maintenance in accordance with preventative maintenance program
- Carry out installation and modification work - mechanical, electrical and refrigeration
- Hazardous material handling
- Be familiar with and take a lead role in emergency situations
- Maintain good housekeeping practices in your work area and in the maintenance shop
- Carry out repairs on equipment and buildings not associated with the production lines. (ie. cold store equipment, yard lighting, forklifts, trucks, office fittings and facilities, building fabric, etc…)
- Maintain and adhere to the required hygiene, safety and quality standards on the production floor
Minimum Qualifications (What You Bring to the Table)
- Industrial Millwright certification
- Clear criminal background check (or has received a pardon)
- Effective work ethic and good communications skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Strong working knowledge of Siemens and Allan Bradley PLC’s and frequency drives
- Team player
- Prior involvement with Continuous Improvement projects
- Self-motivated and able to take initiative
- Computer literacy
- Flexibility to undertake other work that may be assigned from time to time which may be outside the area of normal duties
- Must be able to work 12.25 hour rotating continental shift schedule (2 weeks days & 2 weeks nights)
Preferred Qualifications (Extra Ingredients for Success)
- Experience in a food manufacturing facility would be an asset along with knowledge of food safety and HACCP
- Class “B” Refrigeration license would be an asset
