About the Role
We are seeking a Sr. Food Technologist to join our team at our Brantford, ON location. As a Sr. Food Technologist, you will be accountable for leading the development, commercialization, and continuous improvement of innovative bakery products that meet customer expectations and support business growth. This role plays a critical part in transforming concepts into scalable, production-ready solutions while enhancing product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and customer satisfaction.This role requires you to be onsite in Brantford, ON, giving you hands-on collaboration with the team and daily exposure to the pulse of the business.
Compensation
Salary Range: $76,000 - $101,000
Core Accountabilities (What You’ll Be Doing)
- Lead the development and commercialization of innovative bakery products from concept through full-scale production.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and waste reduction.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Production, QA, Purchasing, and other stakeholders to deliver successful product launches.
- Develop formulations, product specifications, prototype samples, and technical documentation to support customer and business needs.
- Support plant trials and production scale-up activities to ensure consistent and repeatable manufacturing outcomes.
- Troubleshoot product and process challenges while providing technical expertise to improve manufacturing performance.
- Champion food safety, quality, GMP, HACCP, and health and safety standards across development and production activities.
Minimum Qualifications (What You Bring to the Table)
- Post-secondary education in Food Science, Food Technology, Baking Science, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in food research and development, new product development, or bakery manufacturing.
- Strong technical knowledge of baking science, ingredient functionality, and applicable governmental regulations.
- Experience developing products from concept through commercialization in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and HACCP principles.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business-related computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications (Extra Ingredients for Success)
- Experience within the commercial bakery or sweet baked goods industry.
- Strong understanding of food market trends and consumer preferences.
- Demonstrated success leading plant trials, scale-up activities, and process optimization projects.
- Product costing and formulation management experience.
- Passion for innovation with exceptional baking and product development skills.
