Oversees and coordinates all sanitation team activities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining the highest standards of hygiene throughout the bakery.

   Responsibilities:

  • Ensure sanitation activities are completed on time and in accordance with the production/master sanitation schedule.
  • Ensure that all employees are fully trained and qualified in WHMIS and other chemical safety related programs prior to handling, storing, and using chemicals and operation of sanitation equipment.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance sanitation processes, implementing improvements, and ensuring the proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Maintain hygiene standards to meet company policies and industry certifications (GMP, HACCP).
  • Schedule and delegate tasks to sanitation operators to maintain cleanliness in all areas.
  • Conduct daily team meetings to communicate updates, address concerns, and provide feedback.
  • Prepare daily reports on sanitation activities.
  • Complete Accident Investigations for incidents involving the department or its team members.
  • Work with the Sanitation Training Coordinator to ensure proper training and cross training for all sanitation employees.
  • Maintain Master Sanitation Schedule (SAP Sanitation Work Orders).
  • Supervise sanitation operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures (Safety, GMP’s, HACCP).
  • Conduct routine inspections of lines (post cleaning) to ensure the line is fully clean and ready for Pre-op inspection.
  • Document and report inspection findings, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide technical input into the creation of technical documents (SSOP’s: Sanitation Work Orders).
  • Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality, and quality.
  • Maintain the required hygiene, safety, and quality standards on the production floor

Qualifications:

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-3 years related experience, within the food manufacturing sector would be preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess post-secondary education in a food science, business, or technical engineering discipline.
