This role will be responsible for sourcing and procurement activities related to ingredients, including the development of sourcing strategies for assigned categories.  The position is also responsible for assisting in the development and execution of strategic risk management programs in support of Aspire Bakeries' business plans for the underlying commodities used in the procurement of ingredients. Capable of cross-functional engagements with stakeholders and prioritizing activities to achieve procurement department objectives and financial results.


Key Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of key sourcing strategies, including increasing the ability to leverage volume and spend in those categories, delivering cost savings
  • Development of bid packages and administering RFI, RFQ, and RFP
  • Develop relationships with suppliers and supports both bakery and business needs
  • Work with key cross-functional stakeholders to support the assigned categories including supplier and ingredient qualifications
  • Responsible for category financial planning, including the annual budget and standard cost development process
  • Understand and analyze purchase price variances and its impact on the business
  • Support bakeries with supply continuity through various formats including alternative suppliers
  • Support the business units by assessing potential commodity market price movement through fundamental, technical, and macroeconomic analysis.
  • Define and assess price and supply risks and exposure for commodity categories.
  • Regularly review the impact of economic, trade flow, and commodity movements, assessing trends and providing insights to the Procurement team and business partners on underlying cost drivers.
  • Monitor market dynamics and collaborate with the Risk Management team to make coverage recommendations to optimize value in commodity markets.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the appropriate hedge strategies and positions to manage risk, minimize cost, and provide potential financial benefit.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be required and/or assigned as necessary.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, or Accounting preferred
  • 5-7 years of related procurement; food manufacturing and ingredients procurement experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with food and ingredient categories such as Cocoa, Chocolate, and Sugar is a plus
  • Expertise in contract negotiations, cost modeling, and value chain analysis
  • Negotiation and influencing skills
  • Solid communication, problem-solving and research skills are necessary
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint and prior experience with SAP is a plus
