About the Role
We are seeking an Operator 2, Bakery – Packing (Machine Operator, Subway Packing) to join our team at our Hazleton, PA bakery. As an Operator 2, Bakery – Packing, you will be accountable for operating and monitoring packaging equipment to ensure a continuous flow of production while maintaining food safety, quality, and operational efficiency standards. This role plays a critical part in ensuring finished products are properly packaged, labeled, inspected, and prepared for shipment.

Core Accountabilities (What You’ll Be Doing)
- Operate and monitor packaging equipment to support efficient production and packaging processes.
- Verify product labeling, coding, and metal detector compliance to ensure food safety and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate with production, shipping, maintenance, sanitation, and quality teams to maintain workflow and minimize downtime.
- Perform equipment adjustments, changeovers, start-ups, and shutdown activities to support operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot equipment alarms and production issues while escalating concerns as needed.
- Maintain accurate production records and complete required documentation in a timely manner.
- Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment while following GMPs, HACCP requirements, and company policies.
Minimum Qualifications (What You Bring to the Table)
- High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic math and timekeeping skills.
- Ability to make logical decisions and follow established procedures.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, twist, and stoop throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift, move, push, or drag up to 50 pounds and frequently carry more than 20 pounds.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and production demands.
Preferred Qualifications (Extra Ingredients for Success)
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing or bakery production environment.
- Experience operating packaging or automated production equipment.
- Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Familiarity with HACCP and food safety programs.
- Experience training or mentoring team members in a production setting.
