Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all ingredients are correct based on SAP item number, and all LOT code information is properly recorded including LOT changes.
  • Responsible for the sifting of all hand –add ingredients in each formula/recipe
  • Report any and all ingredient issues, damages, or non-conformances on the LOT code tracking paperwork, allowing for proper accountability of the ingredient(s).
  • Know when changes are needed in ice and water, and communicate them to the production supervisors to ensure that all changes made will ensure an efficient and streamlined workflow.
  • Keeping accurate and neat records of production up and downtimes, and recording any and all issues delaying or impacting the mixing process.
  • Troubleshoot issues before getting maintenance or supervisors involved if it is a minor issue. Communicate the issues to the break relief, mechanics, or supervisors as needed to ensure safe and efficient production runs.
  • Properly scale and record all ingredients, including hand additions, to the correct amounts as specified by the product recipe.
  • Properly record dough temperatures, flour weight, ice, water, and mix times for each batch, ensuring that any and all changes made are properly and clearly recorded.
  • Communicate properly with line operators and inspectors to ensure any changes to the dough consistency are easily accounted for in a manner that will maintain efficient and safe production runs, minimizing downtime and waste. Proper communication of issues to coworkers or the proper department(s) (ie. Sanitation, Maintenance, or Quality Assurance) as needed through the use of radios or overhead PA systems. All positions are part of a team and must communicate and work together to ensure a safe and efficient workflow.
  • Break relief is the first contact for operators/mixers for issues that do not impact major waste, excessive downtime, or quality/safety issues. They have a radio to contact maintenance/supervisors if the issue is beyond their knowledge base.
  • Report any products that may contain foreign materials immediately to the production supervisors so the proper steps can be taken to alleviate or fix the issue, ensuring the safety of every product.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and organized work area. Ensuring that all waste is disposed of in a timely manner.
  • Know, understand, and follow safe operating procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Performs all tasks and duties required to ensure production and efficiency standards are met.
  • Actively participate with the team, through problem-solving, planning, and team decision-making with individual accountability.
  • Ensure the proper setup for the next shift and communicate to them all information relevant to the manufacturing process.
  • Perform training of new techs and assist in other training activities which support the manufacturing process.
  • Flexibility in job assignments based on production needs, as designated by a supervisor.
  • Assist team members regardless of position if help is needed to ensure safe and efficient production runs. Assist operators in the event of a dough jam, mechanical failure, and at the start and end of runs as necessary.
  • Ensure all company assets including but not limited to machinery, tools, and the facility; are accounted for and kept in a safe, clean, and well-maintained condition.
  • Make all necessary machinery & equipment adjustments and performs all tasks & duties necessary for efficient start-ups, daily operation, change-over, and shut-downs.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Previous work history in a food manufacturing facility preferred.
  • Good communication skills, in English.
  • Ability to read and write in English, and use of basic math and timekeeping.
  • Able to make logical decisions.
