  • Responsible for meeting all applicable food regulations (international, national, state, and local)
  • Responsible for complying with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards (i.e., BRC)
  • Responsible for sampling, testing, and documentation of the Quality Management System (QMS) including procedures, records, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining the document control management
  • Ensure all records are maintained and accurate
  • Assist and support in the preparation and execution of third-party audits of all kinds
  • Investigate root causes of customer and consumer complaints
  • Works to maintain the safety, legality, and quality of each food and the processes used in their manufacture.
  • Promote awareness on issues relating to good personal hygiene and GMP requirements throughout the plant facilities
  • Responsible for delivery of food safety related trainings and orientation to new and existing employees.
  • Lead and conduct food safety inspections, zone inspections/audits, etc. then takes appropriate action to ensure effectiveness of AIMS program.
  • Maintain facility management workbook to ensure that corrective and preventative measures are driven to completion and sustainable.
  • Responsible for environmental monitoring program (air, water, compressed air, Listeria, Salmonella, etc.) and RCAs and implementation of corrective action for non-conformances
  • Responsible for verification of COAs, new and revised packaging for incoming raw and pack materials
  • Provide technical assistance for sanitation issues and ensure conformance to food safety program
  • Responsible for supplier quality approval program (SQA)
  • Responsible for food safety and quality of inbound raw and pack materials by collecting and analyzing supplier performance data including SNCR management
  • Preparation of food and quality-related local procedure and work instructions that ensure standards are accurately represented in the AIMS program.
  • Responsible for managing non-conforming (expired, block, write-offs, etc.) raw and packed materials and products
  • Performs record review and on-site verifications of the critical food safety tasks related to pre-requisite programs
  • Responsible for allergen, cleaning, and disinfection verifications and validations
  • Assist in maintaining food safety and quality standards of all finished products as per AIMS and Customer requirements
  • Review, evaluate, and analysis of verification activities trending to highlight opportunities for improvement.
  • Responsible for leading/assisting in all food safety investigations/risk assessments and completing all necessary documentation requirements in a timely manner
  • Undertake any special assignment or project as part of continuous improvement
  • Participate in external audits and assist in creating and implementing corrective actions
  • Ensures follow-through and completion of non-compliance and deviation investigations conducted by QA Technicians
  • Effective communication of program requirements to relevant personnel and departments to ensure implementation of CFIA/FDA, HACCP, and BRC requirements
  • Provides food safety support and expertise to Production, R&D, Purchasing, Shipping, Maintenance and Sanitation.
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality, and quality
  • Submits maintenance notification in SAP for the repair and maintenance of equipment with follow up
  • Prepares reports and maintains records for due diligence of sanitation procedures and continuous improvements
  • Lead and support Operational Excellence for FSQA pillar
  • Adhere to food safety practices and ensure they are being followed
  • Researches and stays well-informed of changes to applicable regulations
  • Coordinates any special cleaning and disinfection projects
  • Hands-on participation in cleaning and sanitizing programs to adhere to Food Safety requirements
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Post-secondary education in Microbiology or Chemistry or equivalent by having completed a recognized food processing continuing education program required. 
  • Bachelor of Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or Human Ecology preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related work experience in either Quality or Manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge of GMP and HACCP programs and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid quality orientation with experience and understanding of Food Safety principles
  • Solid computer skills along with excellent analysis, problem assessment, problem-solving, attention to detail, and leadership required
  • Ability to get things done with minimal supervision and the willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, when required.
