About the Role

The Supervisor, Bakery- sanitation supervises plant sanitation workers with an emphasis on teamwork, safety and excellent sanitation practices in concert with overall company goals and vision. Ensures that necessary tools, supplies and equipment are available to perform sanitation tasks effectively. Schedules staff and prioritizes workload to manage team hours to allotted budget. Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance, may become actively involved as required to meet schedules and resolve problems. Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees.  Management reviews work to measure meeting of objectives. Provides supervision to exempt employees and/or non-exempt employees.  Assists Bakery Director and Management team in training, compliance, recordkeeping, and duties related to achieving Aspire Bakeries Policies and Procedures, Food Safety and Safety requirements and Regulatory requirements.  In the absence of the Bakery Director, the Sanitation Supervisor will assume all responsibilities associated with the management of the Sanitation Department.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $65,000- $75,000

 

Core Accountabilities (What You’ll Be Doing)

 

  • Maintain cleaning schedules for all sanitation equipment while managing department performance metrics, utilizing visual controls, and providing regular progress reports to management.
  • Schedule sanitation staff to ensure that business needs are met on each shift and oversee clean-up activities of equipment and facilities in all production areas.
  • Manage sanitation team hours within budgeted limits while prioritizing tasks to ensure all plant cleaning requirements are effectively met.
  • Implement excellent sanitation practices which support company’s processes and procedures ensuring highest quality products are produced in a thoroughly clean environment
  • Perform regular inventories of sanitation chemicals and non-chemical supplies.
  • Manage Sanitation Department programs (SSOP’s, Master Cleaning Schedule, Chemical Control, Pest Control, Record Keeping) to ensure compliance with Aspire Bakeries, Regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Develop root cause analyses for out-of-spec results or failures in cleaning measurement tools (e.g., ATP, environmental swabs, and pre-op inspections) while collaborating closely with the QA department to ensure compliance with the environmental (16.0) program.

 

Minimum Qualifications (What You Bring to the Table)

  • High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education in food science or related field preferred)
  • Able to work various shifts, weekends and holidays as required
  • 3-4 years of sanitation supervisor experience preferrably in food industry or related field
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and two-way communications with co-workers and other personnel throughout the Company.
  • Strong knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and food safety regulations (e.g., CFIA, FDA, SQF, BRC)
  • Ability to hire, train, coach, and manage the sanitation team while monitoring performance and reviewing timecard reports.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) 

 

Preferred Qualifications (Extra Ingredients for Success) 

  • Experience working in high-speed food production environments
  • Familiarity with audit processes (internal, external, regulatory)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Certification in HACCP, SQF, BRC, or other food safety programs
