Key Accountabilities
- Responsible for assisting the HR manager in all core HR processes and tools including labor requirements, training needs, and strategies to reduce employee turnover and improve the employee experience; and supporting ongoing business needs for the HR team.
- Assist with training and development, including the Alchemy System.
- Stays up to date on trends and developments within functional area of expertise.
- Assist with providing guidance towards the implementation of Health & Safety practices to ensure a safe work environment.
- Responsible for partnering with the local Bakery Director providing guidance on the day to day human resources activities.
- Support Health and Welfare billing validation.
- Support grievances resolution and communication.
- Assist with the administration of the annual performance management systems as well as track performance reviews. Provide training on process and/or new systems as required.
- Assist with the resolution of employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner.
- Assists in the administration of FMLA & all other personal leave of absence tracking for hourly employees.
- Administers and communicates HR programs & initiatives to the local bakery in alignment with the overall business goals and objectives.
- Primary support to coordinate company benefit programs to new hires which including health and welfare insurance, 401k, PTO, workers compensation & SDI. Assists employees with on-line enrollment and/or changes in the ADP portal.
- Facilitate development and monitoring of employee performance improvement plans.
- Supports the recruitment efforts for all hourly roles & upon HR Mangers request supports with management personnel.
- Responsible for onboarding of new hires, and pre-employment process.
- Supports investigation and resolution of employee relations issues; including the investigation of harassment, discrimination and other charges; managing corrective action and discharge functions, and assuming responsibility for the uniform and equitable application of the collective bargaining agreement and company policies and procedures.
- Ensures local state & government compliance in areas such as wage and hour, EEO/AA and Immigration (ICE). Ensures consistent administration of company policies and procedures. Facilitates, monitors and performs management and employee training.
- Communicates effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain relationship with staff, management and employees.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required by the HR Manager.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration and/or equivalent experience its preferred.
- PHR certificate highly desirable.
- 2 plus years of progressively experience in the Human Resources field.
- Must have prior union/labor relationsexperience.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and professionalism. Is tactful and flexible.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely answer questions and convey information to employees & management team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently.
- Multi-tasking & advance organizational skills are required.
- Experience with human resources and payroll software, such as Success Factors and Ceridian.
- Bi-lingual Spanish is helpful.
Pay Range: $33 - $38 per hour
This is a 6-month temporary position.
