About the Role

We are seeking a Starter Room Operator to join our team at our Swedesboro, NJ bakery. As a Starter Room Operator, you will be accountable for preparing high‑quality white and organic starters by precisely following recipes, monitoring fermentation and cooling processes, and ensuring all starter room equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized to support safe, consistent, high‑quality production.

 

Shift & Schedule

  • Shift: 2nd
  • Hours: 2:00pm–10:30pm
  • Weekend availability: Required

 

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $21.00

 

Core Accountabilities (What You’ll Be Doing)

  • Prepare and mix white and organic starters according to defined recipes, temperatures, and process parameters.
  • Monitor and control fermentation, cooling, and mixing conditions to ensure starters meet targeted characteristics.
  • Perform CIP procedures on starter tanks, dosing stations, and liquefiers to maintain sanitation standards.
  • Maintain accurate SAP entries and documentation to ensure traceability and compliance.
  • Verify proper functioning of scales and process equipment to support consistent product quality.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe starter room environment aligned with GMP and safety standards.
  • Manage starter inventory, including mother starter quantities and use‑time monitoring, to support production flow.

 

Minimum Qualifications (What You Bring to the Table)

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 6 months of experience as an operator or in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Ability to understand and follow recipes and process controls.
  • Ability to lift 50‑lb bags for short periods and perform physical tasks safely.
  • Ability to read, document, and interpret scale and temperature data.
  • Basic computer skills, including entering and documenting data using SAP.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

 

Preferred Qualifications (Extra Ingredients for Success)

  • Experience with starter mixing or fermentation processes.
  • Experience in food manufacturing or bakery production.
  • Familiarity with CIP systems and sanitation procedures.
  • Knowledge of GMP and food safety practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability in a process‑driven environment.
