The Master Data Analyst is responsible for the input, maintenance and governance of master data fields to ensure required data is operational and information contained in the SAP system is accurate. This includes the creation, deletion and maintenance of master records as well as master data management practices, procedures, and analysis. Must understand the overall operational aspects of the business in order to help troubleshoot issues resulting from master data. Coordinates and collaborates with all functional areas on business as usual issues and requests. Monitors for data accuracy through execution of data quality audits and analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain master data in the areas of Customer, Vendor, Materials, BOMs, Recipes, Warehouse Management, Control Cycles, Resources, Costing, Sales Pricing and other related areas in our SAP System
- Work with Commercialization teams, Logistics, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Operations, Innovation, Sales, FSQA, Finance, Accounting, AR, AP, Tax and Trade Management areas, coordinating master data requirements to ensure data consistency, integrity, efficiency, and control within the SAP System
- Create and update master data standards, technical documentation, and knowledgebase articles
- Support the communication and education of functional master data standards, definitions, processes, policies, and tools to functional data owners
- Provides training and support on master data processes to users. Educate users on data standards, polices, and procedures associated with master data
- Understands end-to-end master data processes and flows and uses knowledge to design and implement master data management solutions.
- Provides business process, system support and data quality governance for master data through data coordination and integration to ensure efficient processes and consistent data flows to business and stakeholders.
- Conducts testing and system validation to troubleshoot issues related to master data management and system.
- Act as a trusted advisor and Center of Excellence for SAP master data and related business processes
- Review/analyse incoming master data requests to determine desired outcome and proper course of action to take
- Resolves or escalates data quality issues for their subject area and take corrective action
- Identifies and Implements process improvements in relation to master data processes. Raise process improvement opportunities and collaborate with others to ensure a consistent approach to data management
- Creates and maintains GTIN codes for all items per GS1 standards
- Create, maintain, and publish items to GDSN and iTrade for Customers to retrieve Data
- May occasionally cover duties of others within the department in special circumstances (holidays, vacation schedules, PTO, special projects)
Qualifications:
- 5+ years SAP or other ERP system master data experience required
- Working knowledge of SAP is highly desirable within a Manufacturing and Distribution Environment. Specific knowledge or experience in Bill of Material Management, Production & Purchasing Planning experience, Quality or Warehouse Management is a plus.
- Experienced in executing master data tasks and processes
- Solid knowledge of industry practices, standards, and techniques, and solid understanding of Master Data components and related business system impacts, preferably in a medium to large manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Data Management and Governance concepts a plus
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically proficiency in Excel is essential. Win Shuttle, or any other "Mass Update Tool" or Open Text is a plus.
- Be comfortable in a fast paced growth environment with an appropriate balance of urgency and quality
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written, including ability to work with business area representatives to translate business requirements into technical needs
- Possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills
- Understands data from the business and functional departments
- Educating users on data standards, policies, and procedures, including industry standards (GS1)
- Ability to apply policies and standards consistently
- Basic project management experience a plus
