We are seeking an experienced and skilled Electrician to join our maintenance team in a high-speed food manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and components to ensure optimal production performance. This role requires adherence to safety, food safety, and quality standards while working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Maintenance & Repair:
    • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical issues in production machinery, conveyor systems, motors, and other equipment.
    • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical components to reduce downtime and ensure smooth operation.
    • Repair and replace faulty electrical components such as fuses, circuit breakers, relays, switches, and wiring.
    • Ensure all electrical systems comply with regulatory standards, including food safety requirements.
    • Read and interpret electrical blueprints & schematics
    • Troubleshoot and repair 3-phase components
    • PLC’s – connect to and understand ladder logic, being able to make adjustments to logic as required.
    • Motor troubleshooting and diagnostics – identify defects and repair
    • Understand and troubleshoot electrical safety circuits.
  • Installation & Upgrades:
    • Install, test, and commission new electrical systems and equipment, including wiring, control systems, and machinery.
    • Support the design and implementation of electrical upgrades and improvements to enhance production efficiency.
  • Automation & Controls:
    • Work with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and other automation systems to troubleshoot and repair control issues.
    • Adjust and configure sensors, drives, and other electrical components as required.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Adhere to food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines when performing maintenance activities.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and electrical safety standards.
    • Complete required documentation for maintenance activities, including work orders, preventive maintenance logs, and regulatory compliance forms.
  • Collaboration & Support:
    • Work closely with other maintenance staff, production teams, and management to minimize equipment downtime.
    • Assist in training production operators on basic electrical troubleshooting and safety protocols.
    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plant operations and energy usage.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED (required). Associates degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent certification (required).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an industrial or maintenance electrician, preferably in a food manufacturing or similar high-speed production environment.
  • Strong experience with PLC troubleshooting, motor controls, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Familiarity with industrial automation systems and electrical schematics.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of food safety regulations, GMPs, and other industry-specific requirements.
