Position Purpose

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of the bakery equipment. Maintaining open and reliable communication with co-workers on the safety and operating status of all equipment operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, test and troubleshoot all production lines prior to start-up in a timely manner.
  • Perform preventative Maintenenance and Work order tasks in an SAP environment
  • Promote and adhere to safe work practices in the bakery i.e. lock-out procedures
  • Work in accordance with company policies, departmental procedures, good manufacturing practices, and workplace health and safety regulations
  • Carry out duties as specified by Maintenance Manager and Supervisor
  • Timely and accurate completion of all paper work on repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Repair production equipment in a timely manner, using blueprints and manuals.
  • Carry out minor building maintenance and repairs
  • Maintain ongoing communication with other departments and assist in continuous equipment improvement.
  • Problems solve, analyze and identify waste areas and recommend solutions.
  • Install new equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
  • Carry out equipment modifications to improve product quality and reduce downtime.
  • Report any concerns and/or problems to supervisor
  • Adhere to GMP’s and Health and safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
  • Report any unsafe conditions, incidents or injuries to Supervisor immediately
  • Use all prescribed personal protective equipment
  • Ensure GMP’s and safe food handling practices are being followed
  • Adhere to all applicable job procedures as outlined in SOP manual
  • All tools to be cleaned and maintained in good repair. Report any broken, damaged, or missing tools to your supervisor. Do not discard any damaged or broken tools.
  • Follow all GMPs including maintaining personal hygiene, handwashing/sanitizing hands, clean up spills (ie: ingredients, water, debris and wood)
  • Report any foreign material findings to your supervisor
  • As part of food security, report any unusual people or behaviours to your supervisor
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • Understand how to read and troubleshoot ladder logic and PLC
  • Able to program and install VFD and VSD
  • Run and install all types of conduit and cable as per canandian electrical code.
  • Understand the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Be able to install new motor control systems using 3 phase and single phase. 
  • Responsible for upkeep of motor control centers.
  • Read and understand all equipment manuals.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Good understanding and application of English oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to understand the scheduling process, quality training and safety policies and procedures after training completion
  • Able to prioritize and direct maintenance trades personal
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are essential
  • Good analytical skills – finds solutions quickly
  • High sense of accountability

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level

 

Required

  • Post-secondary school education in a technical field or trade certification as a construction or Industrial Electrician

Preferred

  • Proven experience with SAP software
  • SAP knowledge with  ECC.
