About the Role

We are seeking a Sanitation – Union (Canada) team member to join our team at our Winnipeg bakery. As a Sanitation employee, you will be accountable for cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, machinery, and facility areas following SSOPs to ensure a safe, compliant, and hygienic environment that supports food safety and product quality.

 

Shift & Schedule

  • Shift: Rotating Continental
  • Hours: 12‑hour shifts
  • Weekend Availability: Required

 

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $18.70

 

Core Accountabilities (What You’ll be Doing)

  • Clean and sanitize production equipment, lines, and facility areas in accordance with SSOPs and sanitation standards
  •  Safely handle, prepare, and store cleaning chemicals following MSDS guidelines
  • Perform visual inspections and take corrective action to ensure sanitation expectations are met
  • Maintain clean and hazard‑free workstations and floors throughout and after each shift
  • Communicate equipment deficiencies, sanitation issues, or potential risks to leads or supervisors
  • Remove waste materials from the production process and ensure proper disposal
  • Follow all company policies and GMP requirements to support food safety and regulatory compliance

 

Minimum Qualifications (What You Bring to the Table)

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Ability to work all shifts, including weekends, with schedule flexibility
  • Ability to work in varied temperature environments (cool, warm, wet, dry)
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to identify sanitation or equipment issues using sensory awareness

 

Preferred Qualifications (Extra Ingredients for Success)

  • Experience in food processing or sanitation roles
  • Experience working in a multicultural or unionized environment
  • Knowledge of GMPs, sanitation standards, and MSDS guidelines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic math skills for documentation and chemical preparation
