Sanitation Workers are accountable to clean production equipment, machines, and work areas in a food processing facility by following SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operation Procedure). Employee is responsible for handling and preparing cleaning chemicals, prepare sanitizers, prepare chemical concentrations, and handling and storing the chemicals.
Responsibilities
- Maintain high quality sanitary conditions in bakery facility by performing various duties, including production lines, equipment, infrastructures, hallway, locker rooms, bathrooms, lunchroom, etc.
- Perform duties as assigned from Master Sanitation Program
- Reading chemical labels or Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to learn how to properly handle chemicals they will be using
- Accurately complete all paperwork in a timely manner as assigned.
- Perform a visual self-inspection on all items, responsible for cleaning and take necessary corrective action for unsatisfactory items.
- Inform Lead hand of equipment deficiencies observed during disassembly or cleaning.
- Report any incident or situation that might affect production to superior
- Responsible to ensure workstation and floor is clean and free of unwanted & hazardous materials throughout entire shift and after shift
- Visually observes products through every stage of production and remove waste products from assembly line, ensuring products are placed into proper waste bins as required.
- Follow all company policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Completed (minimum) Grade 12 education or equivalent, with basic math skills
- Previous industrial/manufacturing plant sanitation experience is considered an asset
- Ability to work in a wide range of environmental conditions from cool to warm and wet to dry
- Able to work all shifts, including weekends, as assigned with open flexibility
- Physically fit and able to lift, push, and/or pull, weight of up to 50lbs.
- Good understanding and application of English oral and written communication skills
- Able to effectively communicate with leads, co-workers and department staff from all areas of operation
- Comfortable being part of multi-cultural, unionized environment
- Must be able to understand the scheduling process, quality training and safety policies and procedures after training completion
